Research
Usage
Stand next to a research console and type use research console to open the research console. From there you can browse research categories, view project details, and start research. Type exit at any time to leave.
Material Study
Raw materials you discover in the world can be studied at the research console to learn their properties. Studying a material consumes samples from the vault.
Level 1 study reveals the material's qualities, whether it is edible or toxic, and its healing properties. Some basic recipes are also unlocked at this level.
Level 2 study reveals deeper ecological data such as seasonal growth patterns, regrowth timing, and harvest limits. This level requires suspension gel in addition to samples. More advanced recipes and blueprints may also be unlocked.
Research Projects
Beyond studying materials, the research console offers projects that unlock schematics for new gear, base upgrades, slime enhancements, and more. Each project requires specific materials from the vault. Some projects also require a quality-based material that you load into the console manually.
Projects take real-world time to complete and run in the background. You can leave the console and continue exploring. You will be notified when the research finishes.
Higher quality materials improve the chance of completing research on the first attempt. If a project does not succeed, the console will tell you what went wrong and what additional materials are needed to try again.
Prerequisites
Some projects require other research to be completed first, or specific materials to be studied to a certain level. Locked projects show their prerequisites so you always know what to work toward.
